SilverFast HDR is a computer program for processing 48-bit raw images. SilverFast DC Pro also has automated color optimization AACO, support for JPEG 2000, unsharpmasking USMPlus, CloneTool, and an improved PrinTao module with text and layout functions. With the included IT8-target, individual ICC profiles can be self-made for every camera. SilverFast DC supports Adobe DNG and many camera models, some optimized by special camera profiles.

The access to the raw data permits manual color correction or sharpening instead of using the camera's automatic adjustment, which often does not work perfectly. Supported are the standard image formats such as JPEG and TIFF, and unprocessed raw image format. SilverFast DC Pro has the functionality of the scanner-software SilverFast Ai for digital images. The user can create photo archives and albums, add comments to images, generate contact sheets of the complete view port, and produce or print single pictures in high resolution and in variable sizes.

Once you've learned one software the others will be easier and take less time.SilverFast was introduced in 1995, Version 3.0 was finished in December 1996, and version 6.6 came out in May 2008. Repeat for each control then change 2 controls in the same manner as you did with one control then repeat with three controls. Start with a default settings, scan with a known good slide or negative and make a reference scan of at least 600 dpi then start moving image changing settings one at a time in 5% to 10% increments making a scan after each change and compare it to the reference scan until that control's limit is reached. Silverfast Ai and Vuescan take around 16 hours to learn, Silverfast SE and Epsonscan take about 6 hours to learn. I like Silverfast AI best, Vuescan second, Silverfast SE third, and Epsonscan last.

It does not like Win8 or newer drivers and both version are picky about HD partitioning.
Raw scan with silverfast 6.6 upgrade#
The upgrade to AI 8 is $120 which will run on Win 10 and the Win7 Pro was $60 off ebay. I had to dual boot this Win 10 machine with Win 7 to run Silverfast AI. The V700 is the primary for 4x5 and 120, the V500 a late night backup for 120. The V500 has the same optical specs as a V600.
